Exhibit Showed April 1 - June 30, 2009 in University Mall Chapel Hill
Scrapel Hill Art in University Mall was an inaugural Chapel Hill public arts project where the best local artists created works of art to help educate and promote the value of recycling.
Scrapel Hill Art Contest and Exhibition in University Mall featured works by local artists created of recycled and non recyclable materials. Scrapel Hill Art was created to celebrate and inspire imagination and creativity within our community by utilizing and nurturing the arts. The artists were chosen by a Steering Committee represented by public arts officials, waste management, recycling businesses, art gallery owners and independent artists. The Project Manager was Susan Reda.
The program was sanctioned and supported by the Foundation for Sustainable Growth and was an integral part of the 2ndFriday ArtWalk for three months of the year.
The art was displayed throughout University Mall from April through June and coordinated programs with schools and various community organizations.
Sponsors provided financial support monetary awards for the artists as well as promoting the program throughout the community. These sponsors included merchants within the mall as well as community sponsors.
Business Value Creation LLC managed the brand development of Scrapel Hill Art.
